Happy BIrthday to my Dad in Heaven. Born 12.12.1914. Today marks your 105th Birthday. Sadly, you passed away nearly 39 years ago on January 2nd 1981 shortly after your 66th birthday as we entered that New Year. New Years has never been the same for me.
You have been gone for more years than I had you here in my life. Yet, there isn't a day that has passed that I haven't felt your presence, your influence, your guidance, your wisdom and your love.
Grateful for the luck of the draw I had in having you as my Dad. Grateful for the time we did have together. Grateful for the memories, the lessons learned, the love we shared, the positive influence I could see you had on so many others who were equally blessed to have you in their lives. You live forever in my heart and will forever be a part of my soul. Thinking of you today and always. Until we meet again <3
Fun fact, today also marks the birthday of Frank Sinatra, born a year after my Dad, on 12.12.1915 (died 05.14.1998) Which has me singing, appropriately enough, 'Thanks for the Memories'!
On a side note, and as it also happens, I recently shared a story about you with a friend of mine who writes for Newsday. Valerie Kellogg's article on Collectibles includes that story about a treasured collectible I have from your estate, which coincidently enough, is in this week's paper. One of many memories and keepsakes I have of you and Mom. Now to organize all the photos & clippings!
